Expanding Horizons

From Masai Mara to Mexico City, photographer SZE TSUNG LEONG traveled the world to capture powerful panoramas.  In the course of ten years, his series "Horizons" offer a powerful minimalism that allows you to truly enjoy their natural beauty.  Shot in film, the photographer covered more than 100 sites.  By reducing the field of vision down to two parts - land (or water) and sky - and embracing its sublime enormity, Leong redefines what a landscape can be.

The Diversity of Nature

Enter the colorful and dreamy fairly-land of German-based illustrator and artist, OLAF HAJEK.  In his paintings and illustrations he explores the relationships between imagination and reality.  He loves to paint flowers: "Flowers are such a symbolic elements for me.  They can be such a strong symbol for birth and death, for beauty and poison and the diversity of nature.  I try to combine them with animals and insects and thorns and water: a whole circle of life!"

Mr. and Mrs. Toledo

I am huge fan of Ruben Toledo, his fashion illustrations are very whimsical and colorful.  He is married to fashion designer, Isabel Toledo.  She designed the costumes, pictured here (illustrated by Ruben Toledo), for the musical "After Midnight."  She received her first Tony Award nomination last week for best costumes.  The musical is an ode to Harlem in the Twenties.  For the musical, Mrs. Toledo designed more than 100 costumes.
